Mumbai murmurs - Rickshaw wala

Its been some time since the Marathi song somewhat resembling my title, doing the rounds here in Mumbai (Waat majhi baghtoy riksha wala, ga waat maajhi...*duh..don't know what makes people like that!) but never did I know that am gonna see such a thing happening in front of my eyes and that too, in Mumbaiya style.

People struggle to reach station on time, seeing the empty rickshaws in front of their eyes going, denying the passenger for no apparent reason! After Meter Jam, there was a ripple of protest amongst the public and the sense of duty in the rickshaw wallas. But as it happens normally here in Mumbai, or say in India, people get back to routine after any sort and size of brouhaha and so did our Mumbaikars and the the rude-rickshaw wallas back to their attitude. But never dd I know that it was actually happening. Once a dear friend of mine said, "All men are bastards and all women are bitches" but never did I agree to it. But i didn't know that time, that i am gonna see this.

It happened so that I was waiting for a rickshaw to get in time to the station, the typical Mumbai-morning chaos. Was waiting at a junction. hoping to catch a rickshaw coming from any direction, and there she came!! After a wait of 5 minutes, i was delighted to see a rickshaw coming straight towards me. And as I was just getting ready to enter, Mr Rickshaw walla took another turn at the end time, leaving me scratching my head, wondering what made him do that?!! And within a minute, I got my answer.

A babe was walking towards the signal , towards the junction, but in other direction. And without even her call, Mr Bastard, like a little puppy, went back at the corner of the junction, waiting for her to enter as if it wasn't a rickshaw but his bed. My my.....what was that!!! My eyes were stunned as much as my mind was disgusted of this bastard-ly act.

Now raise a toast my dear rickshaw wallas, here's one more medal on your chest!!#@#@##@

[P.S.: Image is used for representational purpose only. *He's not the bastard I'm talking about!!*]

Religion unites, but Religions Divide!!

P.S. ~[ Before some nerds start raising their fingers, here P.S. means pre-script, kyun bhai, post ne koi copyright le rakha hai kya?? and liya bhi hai to mera blog hai and mere thoughts, jo chahe likhoon!!:P;):D ]~ I know that i promised to be regular and write more than recent times, but there's always a lapse between resolutions and their execution, its not that easy after all!! he he, anyways, lets begin with the topic, which seems to be quite serious...shhhh... mazaak band, aur zara gaur karein....

From the recent happenings about the Ayodhya case, many thoughts cropped up in my mind and what caught my attention the most is a paradoxical thought about a religion and religions.

Waise to religions are meant to be a source of getting people together on the path to attain spiritual enlightenment and reach the supreme Lord, the so called divine father or the supreme being. But wonder have they ever met their true purpose??

Lets start from the time when there was no religion ~[duh!! before you guys start thinking of when your religion started, just to enter a race of "ours" being the oldest and richest religion,]~ or say at least when one religion wasn't aware of the others presence. ~[oho ab zyada dimaag na ladao, just imagine of such time's existence!! sochne mein kya hai!!]~ At that time, one came into the realization of the supreme power behind this entire creation and found ways to reach him. And enlightened others about the path and lead them the same way!! Now this is how a religion forms. The supreme being(God/Allah/Eeshwar/Rab), a person who shows a path(a spiritual leader, Jesus, Waheguru etc.) and the common man, the one, who has to see the moon(Supreme Soul) through the pointed finger(Spiritual leaders guidance).

The problem is that these people didn't realize before that the finger pointing the moon is not the only one. There are other fingers, showing the way from a different direction, which is true to their perspective, leading a separate path, but the common target. But instead of focusing on the target, they just started seeing and distinguishing the fingers and ultimately, there's no one who hit the birds eye!! And the one who does, shall be the true warrior, as Arjun!!

What if there's a leader at corner of all four directions, leading a group, pointing and moving towards a common target, say moon. Should they see the target and move towards it and unite with fellow travellers and make a marvellous journey together, towards the common goal or fight like people do to enter a 9:00 am Mumbai local??

If we see at a religion, it is nothing but a way to unite people to gather and understand the path to the realization of God, the one who's supreme. The superlative. And when its a superlative, it cannot be multiple. It can be just one. A mountain cannot have several tops and same shall apply here.

Its a bitter agony, that the travellers moving in same direction, towards same destination, but who started their journey from different sources are quarrelling on which source is greatest, whereas the reality is, that the greatest lies ahead of them and only if they all concentrate on destination, they shall know the reality. The journey shall all the way be peaceful and joyous and can be like a picnic going bus full of children awaiting with bated breath, of reaching their destination, no matter the way they started from!!

Never completed!!

As I make my return to the blog and try and revamp it, I also turned up to doing arts and stuff and be in touch with the other side of my Life. And before starting something new, I wanted to clean up old mess. As I start working on nurturing my mind and Soul, and put up my thoughts, I also wanted to clean up my space at home and reorganize my artworks.

And while cleaning up, I came across some artworks that were never completed by me, either due to the errors or may be because I didn't complete them at one go. Yup, I have this weird tendency of not completing the work if not done at one go. Though multiple sittings and more time and patience lead to finesse in works, I usually prefer completing them at one go. May be I just don't have that patience or may be I lose interest in them soon!!!

Whatever it is, just wanted to share, and to say goodbye to those and welcome a new dawn in my Life with new colors and shades and a new, strong mind, body and Soul.

Padharo !!:)

I'm back...FINALLY!!! phew.....

phmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm haaaaaaahhh.....(arre yaar chain ki saans to loon!! Am here after such a long time;):)). Before I start writing anything...I just wanna feel that I'm back...I haven't been into action here since when....but it feels grr8 to be back and I hope I be regular with my posts. The break wasn't a holiday for sure!!

Whatsoever, I am glad i made it back and I hope keep living it full time no matter what...coz we, are just humans and need to express...we aren't mechanical!! May be I forgot that things come and go, situations come and go. Bad times wont stay forever and neither will Good times. But shouldn't forget that whatever time it is, the time is to LIVE.

There was a time when I didn't have anything to write, there have been times when i had to but didn't have time to write or read here on blog-o-sphere. But today...I feel I have so much to write about!! And rahi time ki baat...well u just need to line up things in proper order its it. I think you always have the time!! You need to manage it properly. If you really wanna do it, you can make it.

Time has been at its pace since time eternal, its just that in the race of Life, in that zip zap zoom, we miss out the thing...we forget that Life is about "Walking" through that journey, to do it step by step. When we can enjoy each step to its fullest and just take its pleasure. I just wanna realize that its the joy of small things that makes our life so pretty, lovable. Its so lovely to find joy in this silly, small things. But that's how it is. And when we start looking at all such precious moments...we automatically slow down and admire and acknowledge the beauty of life and our movement becomes gracious on its own. The way it is supposed to be. And then we learn to look at life in a different way. The color of your spectacles change. And if you are able to sustain that, mind you, there is no damn thing that can stop you or hinder you in Life. Coz you are not running in Life, you are taking a walk, WITH Life!!:)

A Surprise Gift

"I am going!!"

"Did you take your handkerchief, wallet and cellphone?" mother inquired on my daily sign off statement.

"Yes"

"Okay, bye beta" mom said and I left for office.

It was just another day. Routine. But today, somehow I was feeling different, something strange, a kind of intuition, that somethings gonna happen. And to add to it, the typical filmy, my left eye was fadking and I didn't even know whether the right or the left eye is the bad indication. Stop. What was I thinking, do I believe all this non sense!! "Naah!!!" came the reply from within. But still there was something that I wasn't liking.

I caught a rickshaw and began my journey. The eye still fadking at regular intervals and my mind mill on its full swing. The traffic jam was at its peak and so was the heat. The scorching sun roaring high at around 30 minutes past 10 in the morning. Sitting in the rickshaw was as good as sitting in an oven but my mind mill still working at its best. I was busy wondering how difficult it must be for the ones walking on the street, and worse for those who work there. Poor things. My eyes were open, but was seeing just the constantly running film of thoughts. And then, all of sudden, she came in front, in middle of the road, and I saw her.

She was so much in distress, in middle of the street, struggling to get a ride. She was popping from here to there trying to get some help. She was also screaming in between may be. "Oh goodness!! I must help her!" I thought. No one was stopping to help her. And then she suddenly came in front of my rickshaw and my driver applied the brakes.

She came towards me, sweat dripping from side of her forehead, and said, "Mujhe please station tak chhod do, BETA!!" yup, it was an old lady asking me for help. * what else did u think, naughty minds!!:P:)* Hmm...jokes apart,

She was really in a sorry state.Paper thin body, like that of Olive Oyl. Her body no more than a skeleton, hair all white, wearing specks, carrying a bag with load double her weight and she, fumbling to find some help. And then before I could say anything, she was already sitting besides me. I, shocked and awed, could do nothing and then we continued the journey. I was anyways going to help her, but holy man, "What the hell is happening??!!"I wondered. I didn't know how to react. And my mind was back to being a busybody. What must be her story? Is she thrown out of home by family? Is she left to be on her own? Is she in her senses? Is she normal or a psycho? Many questions ran through my mind and in no time, we reached station. She inquired, "Station aa gaya kya?" and I replied, "Haan". And then she got out of rickshaw and showered me with her blessings. "Tumhara bahot bahot dhanyawaad beta. Bhagwaan tumhari hamesha raksha kare, khush rakhe" It sounded so filmy, nothing new. But somehow, this time, I was actually feeling nice. Strange, but I was actually feeling her blessings, I can still remember that thankful face. I was just dumbstruck and couldn't say a word. And by the time I settle payments with the rickshaw driver, she disappeared.

I was thinking about this whole day. I had done nothing great. I didn't even help her, in fact, she took the help on her own, he he yup, she did that. So what was it? Whatever it was, but I felt it was just a gift given to me by god, a *Surprise Gift*, as if he wanted to make his presence felt. I really don't know what did this incident mean, but will always stay in my heart. I can never forget those water filled eyes, blessing me from her heart.

So...sigh...with a happy feeling I reached office.I thank God, for giving me this touch of humanity, to make me feel his presence and existence. I surely now feel, someones there, and will always, who cares for me.:)

Defining Love

Yes, one more ode to the ever mysterious yet the most prevalent feeling called *Love*. People of all kinds, from all walks of life have tried to define and explore Love, tried, but not succeeded. What is it about Love that we all experience it, yet we cannot find out its meaning. What is it that keeps the minds reckoning about its secrets? The feeling that all endure but yet keeping them unsure about its existence. Such playful is this feeling that tricks the mind so cunningly, leaving it boggled and baffled about its reality. Can this feeling be ever defined in totality? I am no expert or an academician to play with words and create a set of words that in turn define one. Is Love really so complex feeling that leaves all puzzled yet amazed? Let us try and explore this Mystery of all time, "What is Love??"

Love has many definitions, may be definitions outnumber the population on this planet. Each one has its own definition, which with time and situation keeps changing its shades. I wonder, what is so special about Love, that makes it so special! A feeling that sets each heart ablaze and makes the soul ooh, aah and sigh all time. A feeling that makes you fly with no wings. A feeling that tickles and makes you giggle with no reason. A feeling that leaves an individual overwhelmed and full of joy, that it asks for no other pleasure. One of the purest and highest level of emotions that rules the world, which is not a property of Man but Soul. You may keep giving the likes and whens but you never hit the spot, when you are talking about Love. What is it that makes it so abstract and vague? Let us take a couple of Love concepts that have been told since the time eternal.

People "Fall in love". If its such a pure and high feeling that peaks the peak of emotions, then why one is to be said, falling in love? May be this is because Love teaches to be humble and lose your pride. When you are in love, you lose your identity and learn to identify yourself in someone else. May be because in love, the more you give, the more you feel content. The more you lose in love, the more you gain. The greater the fall, the greater the leap of transcendental spirit towards the higher realms.

Then they say, "Love is Blind". If such is the greatness of this feeling that takes you to a higher level, how can it deprive you from seeing the realities of this world. May be Love actually returns you your lost sight. Because Love shows you no other color, once in Love, you see or give nothing but love. Is it not the way to be? May be Love makes one a dog, that can see the Rainbow. (sorry for stealing this phrase, but i really love this, and for those who don't know, dogs are color blind!)

Aah...there are so many concepts, but not an exhaustive definition! Then how do you know when you are in love? Why cant we sustain Love when we see it all around and, if it is prevalent and so beautiful and colorful? I guess its present all over, but may be it is like white light, only when it receives showers, it reveals its colors and you can see the beautiful Rainbow shine. And like Rainbow wont shine till the sunshine and showers combine, Love doesn't shine and show its true colors without two parts that complete each other. We try to define Love, our minds reckoning? Mind doesn't know the language of love. The more we try to define, the more complex it gets. Love is the simplest of all emotions. Just give, give and give and you shall get it back in abundance. The one who gives and expects nothing but the joy of the beloved, is the one who actually gets Love. Mind can never understand Love because love belongs to heart and heart knows no theories. Its is one of the basic sanskars of the Soul. How can mind reach the property of the Soul? Definitions may be many, with the widest of spectrums, colors and textures, but feeling is one, *lOvE* <3

"Love means that which lasts forever. It doesn't diminish. It always grows and grows and grows and grows. That is not love that today we feel, and tomorrow we feel we don't love them anymore. If Love comes, it never goes. If it goes, it was never love."
- Huzur Maharaj Charan Singhji

Changing colors of Holi

"Maari pichkaari yara foorrrrrr..." he he..yup its that time of the year when colors are their splashiest best, taking their full form, ready to barge on whoever comes into their way, especially targeting the wet cholis and dupattas and saying "Bura na mano, holi hai" as pointed by a newspaper, and that too, in Bollywood ishtyle.

Its the fun-filled festival when people celebrate with colors and waters and play with maddo acts when bhang dancing on their heads and they who knows dancing where and putting and spreading hands and legs in which direction and what they do. Totally unabashed of the dos and don't s, its a care free festival, when you can do whatever you want. After all, its the celebration of the win of good over evil, as all festivals do, but with customs of its own.

And when a festival comes, no matter what, suddenly there starts a research of whats the reason of celebrating the festivals, and the dearest victims of this research are students. Just ask one to write an essay and they would come up with the story of Hiranyakashyap, Prahlad and Holika.(btw, poor students, exams always round the corner during holi time!!).Hmmmm.. So as most of you would know, I would not like to repeat the same old story and narration, rather, depict my interpretation of it and what actually Holi means. And how symbolic gestures are turned into self-convenient ways of reasoning and partying on drop of a hat.

With changing times, people change and so does the color of the society, then why shall the colors of this festival of colors not change?!!
I just woke up this morning with "dhachik dhachik dhig chag dhakchik" going on from all directions that exist, echoing with decibels high enough to murder someone. If my Dadi was alive I'm sure she would've died of heart attack today!!! Goodness, you call it Holi celebration??? Its no more than a disco party, celebrated with colors, an indianized version of disco-dallying to flirt around and a chance to get drunk in public and do as you feel like. Today's Holi celebration are synonymous with, rain-dancing, disco-dallying and getting talli to flirt around.

And all this in the name of celebrating a festival, which signifies the win of good over evil, sorry to say, but I guess the evil has already made its comeback in our form!! I am not against the celebration, but everything has its limits and ways to do. Tonnes of water wasted for rain dance, just for few hours of "Celebration" and noise pollution no less than a terrorist attack is not a "Festival celebration" yaar. Its like after raping someone, the rapist says, I was just celebrating!!!

I highly condemn this attitude of people!!

To me Holi, the day when we lit the holy fire, represents the end of the bad spirits and that's not just "Holika dahan" its the dahan of all our evil spirits that we should put into that fire and never look back. The next day is "Rang panchmi" signifying the celebration of this new birth, the new high of spirit and here doesn't mean you get talli and be high on spirits. Its when you are spiritually higher, feel light and are in bliss to celebrate. Colors signify our personalities. Each one of us is a unique color, we should learn to share and accepts each others colors and that's when we all are equal, here it doesn't mean a boss playing with colors with his peon, but the soul-consciousness, brings us to equal level as we all are nothing but souls, all equal in front of God, his children. And we need no noise to declare this, we can do it with peace or with a love-filled hug with our fellow brothers, sisters and loved-ones. Why do we need such loud noise to express happiness?? May be be because the mankind is turning deaf to the speech of real Happiness and peace. Aah,,,see, even now I can hear this song playing in the background..."Dekha jo tujhe yaar, dil mein baji guitar"!!! Duh!!!

Amidst all this, even I am feeling extremely terrible spiritually !! I wish I could be strong enough spiritually and play with this colors of Life. I wish I can really celebrate Holi. I hope with time, even the existing colors change and people know the reality, leaving behind this naive attitude and mirage of pleasure and celebration!!

Colors of *Life* :)

Another Abstract, I love doing abstract art, especially when it rescues you when you do not have a clear concept in mind. It helps you read your mind, coz you may not be able to figure out what your mind speaks, but your hands and brush do that quite well!!:)

So rather, its the aftermath and the interpretation, that leads to understanding of subject, even to the creator( at least in my case, it is!!)

After completing this art, I realized that this picture has so much hidden in it, so many things that signify something. I realized, the colors I used represent five elements of Life, show the start of Life, somehow, can see the womb, from where the Life begins, with constant accompaniment of the Creator, the supreme, signified by the Tilak besides. In the womb, the soul taking the formation, Spirit coming to life, how wonderful!! Not only that, but the green color signifies nurture and nourishment, prosperity. There are so many things. And see, still its abstract. How strange isn't it!!:)

Smile

Ahem...Hold on guys...for the first time in the history of my 23 years of existence, on this day, I have attempted to write a poem!! he he

And guess what, I received my first Blog Award, and that too, "Valentine Award" wow...cool...he he...thanks Ayu, made my day!! I would love to give some credit for inspiration for writing this poem too!! Here it goes,

" Winds that kissed her face
The legs that got the warm embrace

How lucky were they, he thought
That was something that he sought

There she sat facing the sea
where the sun looked like a pea

Closed were the eyes and dreams alive
Filled with love and joyous and bright

There was a wish within
If only she could see him

She opened her eyes to see around
Standing in front of her, him she found

In disbelief, she closed her eyes
He touched her face and there he sighed

She still couldnt believe he was there
Now the love was filled in the air

The moment stood still and hearts thumped
Hearts that spoke but lips were mum

He adored the beauty that she hold
Mouths were shut but everything was told

Eyes that speak and see through soul
Thats the gift that Lovers hold

They gazed and sighed for a while
Just to see a lovely smile

She closed her eyes to thank her God
Just to realize He was gone "

Lost in the taste of hOneY

Everyone is caught up in worldly activities. No thought is given to finding a solution. Man remains oblivious to the cycle of births and deaths, being foolish and ignorant under the sway of his mind.

- Guru Nanak Sahib

A king left his palace one morning on horseback for a ride in the countryside and went further afield than usual. After riding for several hours he became lost in a deep and almost impenetrable jungle. Reigning on his horse, he looked about him and was terror stricken as he saw a tiger coming towards him. HE leapt from his horse, quickly climbed a nearby tree, and sat on one of its branches.

The tiger came to the same tree and sat on its haunches, waiting to devour the king whenever he came down. Seeing this, the king began to test the branch on which he was sitting, to make certain it was strong enough to bear his weight. But as he looked along its length he was filled with fear, for he saw that two mice, one black and one white were gnawing away at the branch where it joined the tree.

"What can I do?" the king exclaimed, almost beside himself with terror. "I am trapped and there is no way of escape!"

He looked down and at the ground to see whether the earth below was hard or soft. But here another terrifying sight met his gaze. Beside the tiger, there was a huge python with its jaw wide open, waiting for him to fall. The king trembled with fright.

As he clung to the branch wondering what he might do to save himself, he suddenly saw that honey was dripping from a branch above his head. He began to lick it and as he did so, the honey had an amazing effect. The king, absorbed in its sweetness, soon became completely oblivious to his danger.

The tiger, the mice and the python were all forgotten as he became more and more enchanted with the taste of marvelous honey.

In a short time, of course, the mice gnawed through the branch. It fell to the ground, and the king, with happy smile on his face, was killed.

Who is the king in the story?? We are. Kaal / Niranjan is the tiger which watches all our actions and keeps account of every minute of our lives. The white and black mice are day and night, and they are cutting down the tree of our lives. A day gone by will never return. The python is the death or the funeral pyre or the grave that waits to consume us-the grave that tells us, according to Baba Farid, "Ultimately, you have to come to me, so why fear death?"

The honey is the world and its ephemeral pleasures, whose taste seems so sweet. We are so absorbed in the world that we do not notice its dangers. In fact, we say to ourselves, "This life is sweet. Who has seen the next?"

The Lion cub

The real purpose of leading a spiritual life is that we should tear away the veil of maya (illusion) and matter, and recognize ourselves as the soul, which is super conscious and is a particle of the ocean of super consciousness
- Philosophy of the Masters

Here's a small story, which you may have heard, but the moral drawn may have never been the same.

A lioness who had just given birth to a cub had to leave it for a while to go out hunting. A shepherd found the cub, took it home and brought it up on sheep's milk. With time it grew up. One day a lion saw the cub grazing among the sheep. He approached the cub and said, "You are a lion."

"No, I am a sheep," replied the cub.

"No you are a lion," the lion repeated. But the cub would not believe him.

"Come with me to the river," the lion said.

When they reached the river, the lion said, "Look into the water. Don't you and I look the same?"

"Yes" the cub was convinced.

"Now roar with me," said the lion.

As they roared, the sheep and the shepherd fled.

Our senses are the sheep and our mind is the shepherd. The mind has confused the soul through the senses. Just as the lion comes in contact with the cub, the Master meets the soul and says, "You are the soul, the particle of the supreme Lord, go within and realize your self"
Under the guidance of a Master, the soul discovers its true identity and becomes free of the mind and the senses.

Haya

Aah...finally...made it today!! sketched after a looooong time!! and this time I wanted it to be free as a bird so just sketched relentlessly, without any grid, a beauty that is vibrant, yet humble. A quick sketch with charcoal pencil on A3 cartridge paper, took about 50 minutes. I am happy with the result, though I still wonder when will complete my works with finesse, I make them in such a hurry and in a care free way...but the feeling while I do that is just awesome.

The quality about this pic, that I loved, was that the lady, with beauty, is also so very humble and coy. Being suave, is the way to be, I feel.

(P.S. Thanks to the photographer to allow me to sketch this!!^__^

Tales that tell

Tales have been told as long as people have been talking. Tales, well told, communicate their message in a way that all of us like to hear. Many of us may not relish philosophical or moral treatise, but the truth in guise of a good story will be enjoyed by all.

I had always been fascinated, like most children, by the fictional stories told by dadis and nanis, dadas and nanas, by the spiritual masters through their discourses and also the spiritual texts, sometimes, Life itself holds its own stories to tell. The stories with a mystic feel were the ones that attracted me the most, say something like the Arabian Nights, which had a moral behind them, in the guise of entertainment. Some how, I spend a lot of time in my fantasy world, and love to live it. I also try to relate or bring my fantasies to the real world too. Sounds funny , but yeah that's crazy me.

When I talk of Love and Peace, many disbelieve in it, some accept it but as a formality, many doubt its reality and feel it does not happen in the real world. Many also say, these thoughts are good to hear, but they exist only in philosophies, you have to face the realities of Life, Life is tough. But to me, the so called "Real World", seems to be, somehow unreal. Though I live here, I feel I don't belong here, feel disconnected at times. To me it seems like a Mirage, disguised as our home, but is not.

Hmmm...sorry to stray to my inner vision, what I was saying is that mystic tales fascinate me. Authenticity of them is not what is important, but the moral, the message contained in the story is. It is what they are meant for. And what a tale would be, if it doesn't have anything to tell!!

So for some time now, I would like to take a dip in the ocean of the mystic tales and explore and share some pearls of wisdom.

Hey btw, from this, an idea has come to my mind, I have anyways changed the look of my blog, and its kinda new season, of stories on my blog, and the real world too, so may be an idea like having a theme or season of posts on my blog too would be an interesting thing, lemme know what you think of it.

ahem, TALES, he he, me and my mind, I wonder, thoughts are so much like a river, keep flowing always, and you don't know what turn will they take at what moment!! So lets relish on some wonderful instances of experiences of the Buzurg Log, that they've left for us in form of Tales.

To Pakistan, With Love:)

Excuse me for the late post actually wanted to post it on 1st Jan, but have been quite busy with some stuff...so..umm...neways...better late than never!!

I liked this initiative taken by the T.O.I. and Jung Group and hence sharing with you.

(An excerpt from The Times of India, front page, January 1, 2010, Friday)

LOVE

PAKISTAN

Feels odd to see those two words side by side doesn't it?

Terror, hatred and fanaticism somehow sit more comfortably in our minds when we think of the other side of the border.

Words that we've been fed in daily doses over the last six decades. And in greater doses over the last one year.

Shutting our minds to the undeniable truth that people across border are, above all, people. Like us.

So here's a question. Is there any chance at all, that we could still raise a hand, not in anger, but in greeting?

Depends on who raises his hand first, some of us would say. Also how, whisper a few others. But mostly it all boils down to one simple question.
Why?
Why must we do it?
Why do we need them?
Why don't they first say sorry for what they've done?
And answer is simple.

It is easier to say Hi than to say Sorry. Its shorter too. Besides, there is no rule that says a book has to be closed before a new one is opened. Not even if its a History book.

So on the first day of this new year, we are gonna make a start. Again.

With Aman ki Asha. A brave, new people-to-people initiative by the Times of India and Pakistan's Jang Group to bring the people of two fine nations closer together. Culturally, emotionally and peacefully.

Starting with a series of cross-border cultural interactions, business seminars, music and literary festivals and citizens meets that will give the bonds of humanity a chance to survive outside the battlefields of politics, terrorism and fundamentalism.

In the hope that one day, words like Pakistan, India and Love will not impossible in the same sentence.
