Painting with Paintbox!

“Fill the Life with colors”, many must have heard this, but I got a chance to do it, quite literally! Jignasa (curiosity), thats how I stumbled upon this lovely event. A few days ago, a friend of mine sent me an invite for an event on facebook and the moment I saw it, I was mesmerised by it, not because it was something different, but because it was something special, heart touching, something to which I connected instantly. An organisation called “Paintbox” was organising an open event at my school. They were going to paint the walls of certain classrooms in my school with vibrant colors. The moment I learnt about it, my heart said “Wow!” I felt it’s such an opportunity, how many do get the chance of doing it?!

Then I called up the authority of Paintbox to register myself as a volunteer and that’s how I met this lovely lady, Jignasa. I knew that they were going to paint the walls but once I reached there and learnt more about the event, it even made me even happier to know that such compassionate beings do exist! The event was not just about painting the walls of a school, but to make the students of the same school to do so. Paintbox, with help of a faculty and the parents, pointed out a group of students who are notorious in school and not really disciplined. The painting of walls was just a way to make those students respect their school and to bring about discipline and a sense of ownership for the school space in those kids. And I was deeply touched by this idea! Education and arts have been two things that have always been close to my heart and to see those two colours blend in such a smooth shades, creating a beautiful blend was a delight to my soul.

Not only Jignasa, but her family too was part of this and they were such lovely souls to meet. Just as I entered the school, I introduced myself and then I was paired up with one of the students, Khalil to do the wall painting, I had to paint the walls orange. I was handed over the paintbrush and Khalil, a roller! I painted the colour with brush and Khalil instantly evened out the colour using the roller while the colour was wet. And he did this job brilliantly! I didn’t even realise that those kids where so notorious! In that space they seemed such disciplined kids and they were doing their job quite astutely. And well, I forgot to tell one thing about the concept, the volunteers were not only paired with the kids to just paint, but they were also supposed to interact! And he he, not only was it asked to do so, during the lunch break, Jignasa also kept questioning the students like teacher(which she was in real sense!), what did they learn, what did they ask and such series of questions. And at no point did she lose her cool nor did the students give her a chance to do so! I never felt that I was sitting there in the classroom with the difficult most set of students of the school!

And then after painting, with memories refreshed, contentment in heart and peace of mind, I left the premises, enchanted by the whole experience. And now I can boast about this to everybody and say,” Yes, I filled the Life with colors!”

Never completed!!

As I make my return to the blog and try and revamp it, I also turned up to doing arts and stuff and be in touch with the other side of my Life. And before starting something new, I wanted to clean up old mess. As I start working on nurturing my mind and Soul, and put up my thoughts, I also wanted to clean up my space at home and reorganize my artworks.

And while cleaning up, I came across some artworks that were never completed by me, either due to the errors or may be because I didn't complete them at one go. Yup, I have this weird tendency of not completing the work if not done at one go. Though multiple sittings and more time and patience lead to finesse in works, I usually prefer completing them at one go. May be I just don't have that patience or may be I lose interest in them soon!!!

Whatever it is, just wanted to share, and to say goodbye to those and welcome a new dawn in my Life with new colors and shades and a new, strong mind, body and Soul.

Deep Dark Thoughts

Charcoal powder and eraser on A3 cartridge paper, around 15-20 mins.

Umm somehow u ppl must have noticed that many of my wrks have more of dark shades, and I have to admit that i love black color. Somethings mysteriously beautiful abt this color that attracts me to it. Darkness does not necessarily signify evil, I feel darkness holds a lot of hidden things into it, darkness itself is mysterious. Also, darkness can be associated with peace too, in a way( yeah it does, peace is not just property of Mr. white he he), coz if u notice, the dark places are usually quite and unperturbed but yet u can feel a lot of things happening behind the scenes, like this picture signifies, our deep dark world of thoughts our inner world, though it seems so quite, there are so many things goin on in there!! Who knows where do ur thoughts lead you. Its a really deep dark world filled with a plethora of mysteries within, and i would love to explore that!!

Holding the Innocence

Innocence, hmm so one more soft charcoal and a second conceptual art!! It is Soft charcoal on A3 size cartridge paper, took around 70-75 mins.

The reason I liked this pic is coz immediately brought a thought, a feeling and a concept in my mind. It brought the emptiness in me, joy in me, happiness in me ans sadness in me, so in short, this pic makes me feel "haSpApDy" !!

The reason is, I really loved the lovely pic of holding a child in hand and the way it is presented. But on a second thought, it made me think, Wish we can hold Innocence!!

How wonderful it would be if we had a child-like innocence. Some people may feel how rubbish!! We have to grow with time!! an adult cant think or be like a child!! And then I thought surely, we have to mature with time, but does maturing mean losing ur innocence, Why do we have to start wearing masks and not be Innocent as adults!!
Why cant we retain that purity at heart when we turn adults?!!

How beautiful the world would be if we can hold that child like innocence??!! On a deeper thought, seeing the objective way, the world of adults is not much different than that of children, children fight for toys, adults for cars, property, actually, everything, children play games together, and adults too play games, but with each other and we can go on with such comparisons, but see the difference and u'll get my point. Adults dont have innocence in them , no way to forgive and forget, children may fight one second and play together the next minute, but fights of adults lead to wars!!!

when children try to imitate adults, they say, its not a child game!!

I say, when it comes to purity of heart, truth, love, forgiveness, Innocence, I wud say, "ITS NO ADULT GAME!!!"

Adhyatma

Okay, so now a conceptual art from my end, this ones something new and my first one in this domain. The concept is as its title suggests, "Adhyatma", Spirituality!! Here the eyes are that of the Durga or Devi who hold the highest place in the spiritual chakras. The circles are nuthin but the representation of human body made up of "Nine Doors", that is the nine openings of this body. two eyes, two nostrils, two ears, two from the bottom, and mouth and the tenth door being the Third eye, the tenth gate, through which the spiritual journey begins. The yellow dot, the twelfth one , is nuthin but representation of soul, which is entering the Third eye, and then a spiritual level behind the Third eye, which hold the "Sahastra Dal Kamal", the thousand-petal lotus, is represented by the lotus in between. The background, which is composed of brown color, represents nuthin but "Bhuvan", that is Earth, and hence the Human society.

Umm...so here is what was goin on in my mind when I made that...hope its not an overdose of Spirituality, ha ha...neways thats the way I think, so cant help it!!

And yup...thnx to the friend who suggested me to write about the concept, shuru mein thodi jhijhak si thi, to write or no, but then ultimately, I went ahead with it, So, thank Darren for that!!
